Quick Start

How can we get a user account

We need to apply an user account (login name, password) from any one of our senior staff with basic personal information eg our name, email and etc. After our account created, we will receive a mail telling us the login name, password and the instructions to download and install intraComm.

Tips: If our organization is NOT running intraComm yet, we can Try out the Demo ...

Now, let us use the Demo to show how to use of intraComm (the password of all demo Users: admin, pwong, cleung, tlee and tchan are intracomm, please refer the Demo).

Main Form

After login (eg login as pwong), the Main Form coming with Today Note is shown.

Figure: Main Form

After login, you SHOULD:

  • for the first login, you should change your password by going to  User Admin > Change My Password in the Main Menu [no 3] and keep to change your password frequently
You SHOULD keep your password CONFIDENTIAL at anytime
  • check correctness the Previous Login-out Time (and the Time Zone setting when using Notebook) at the title of Main Form
  • pay attention to the Messages in Today Note
  • close (by the red cross on the top right hand corner or System > Exit) the Main Form immediately when we do NOT use intraComm

Basic Concept

intraComm is a database application which make up of different types of records while Record Types can be Message, User, Contact, Recipient Group and etc. It provide a platform for us to browse, search, add/modify and delete these records and handle their interactions.

Tips: intraComm is easy to use:
Uniform interface: it uses uniform interface to browse, search, add/modify and delete records. When we know operation of one type of record, we know all types of record
Tooltip and the context menu tell us how to do: ALWAYS notify the tooltip and the context menu shown by Right Click, they tell us a lot of information on the operation of the control

The interface of different record types are consistant; it contains only minor difference. Let's take the record type - User as an example. The following is a screen dump of the interface of User.

Here is a brief introduction of the interface.

Record Detail Panel [no 1]
-- panel showing details of the record [detail ...]
Relative Tab Pages [no 2]

-- panel showing relative details of the record

Common Large Buttons [no 3]

-- function buttons for specific record type [detail ...]

Navigation and Search [no 4]

-- for flipping through pages of records and searching data inside / outside intraComm [detail ...]

Small Buttons [no 5]

-- function buttons for relative tab pages

There is another common interface that you may use frequently: Record List Panel. You may click the  button to browse data in a table format. [detail ...]

After looking at the common interface of intraComm, let us start from Message which play the most important role in intraComm. We can read and post Messages by Communication > Message or simply click the shortcut button Message in the shortcut menu.
